Reserves Clinch Title

Pontyclun FC’s Reserve Team are once again Taff Ely & Rhymney Valley Divison 1 Champions following a 4-2 victory over Treforest meaning the they cannot be caught with two fixtures left of the season.

The reserves have won this league numerous times since being unable to compete in the Welsh Reserve League and it is fitting that they once again are victorious in their final season in this league.

The club have been fortunate to have a large squad over the season with great numbers throughout in training and this strength in depth is put on show by the quality of  play by the reserve side.

A big thank you to Reserve Team Manager Peter Shilton for all the hard work he has put in this year and special mention to Sam Shilton who moved to over 30 goals for the season, a great achievement.

  1. Sam is following in his father’s footsteps, Peter was about eighteen when he first played in Pontyclun’s Welsh League team and was himself a prolific goal scorer ; for many years he was the club’s top goal scorer averaging 20 a season..
