Pontyclun Football Club are an amateur Welsh football club, founded in 1896 which plays its matches at Ivor Park, Pontyclun.
In its early years, the club played in the Bridgend League and the Cardiff & District League. In 1922, it was then admitted to the Football Association of Wales, one of the few amateur clubs at the time to achieve such status. Within a few years, the FAW adopted Pontyclun’s motto ‘Gorau chwarae, cyd chwarae’ (roughly translated as ‘the best players play together’) as its own.
In 1968, the club was admitted to the Welsh Football League (then the premier league in Wales). The club has two senior teams with the First Team competing in the Welsh League Division 3 and the Reserves playing in the Welsh Reserve League. Training takes place on Wednesday evenings at the state of the art 3G facilities at Y Pant School. As well as this we have a thriving junior section from U6’s through to a youth team, with all of our coaches undertaking DBS checks.
New members are actively encouraged to participate in training sessions, which are run by highly qualified coaching staff. Whatever your ability level, joining Pontyclun FC will be beneficial both in developing your sporting ability whilst providing superb social opportunities.
