New Coaching Team for 2016-17

Pontyclun FC are delighted to announce that Eliot Davey & Martin Lawrence will be taking over as First Team Coaches for the 2017 season. This follows Adrian James stepping down at the end of the 2017 season,  everyone at the club would like to thank Adrian for everything he did for the club. Adrian helped bring stability following our relegation from the Welsh League and led the club to their first cup final in many years. He has left a young, talented squad for Eliot & Martin to work with and everyone will remember the work he put in over the last 4 years.

Eliot returns to the club following his retirement from playing at the end of 2012 and has previously managed the club during their time in Welsh League Division 2. He has been involved with the club for almost 15 years and brings a wealth of footballing and local knowledge to the team.

Martin has won the clubman of the year multiple times and has been managing the youth team for several years. Martin has received many plaudits for the amount of players he has helped come through into the senior setup and the club were delighted when he accepted the opportunity to be involved in the First Team coaching setup.

The two coaches will support First Team Manager, Barry Quinn, and be assisted by Joel Woodington (Assistant Coach) and Huw Jones (Goalkeeping Coach) for the 2016-2017 season.

Pre-season begins Tuesday 5th July, 6.30pm at Ivor Park and everyone at the club wishes all new and old personnel the best of luck for the season.

Book Your Place – Pre-season Taunton Trip

Pre-season is nearly upon us and that means our annual pre-season trip to Taunton has arrived. The trip is always a good first team bonding session of the year and has grown in numbers year on year.

This year we will be leaving the familiar settings of Taunton Town’s hospitality and instead we will be facing Staplegrove FC of the Somerset Counties League. The game will be played on a 3G facility in Taunton and we will then go back to Staplegrove’s clubhouse to enjoy their hospitality.

The trip will involve an overnight stay in Taunton, with a bus leaving on the morning of Saturday 30th July and returning on the afternoon of the 31st July.

If you would like to reserve a place on the bus please put your details below or contact Barry Quinn on 07732855882. There will be limited spaces on the bus outside of the playing/coaching staff so please make sure you book on in advance as places fill quickly.

Race Night Fundraiser Pontyclun FC

Pontyclun FC are having a fundraiser on the 27th February which will be held at the Pontyclun Athletic Club. The event will be a race night and based on previous race nights will no doubt be a huge success and raise lots of funds for the club whilst having lots of fun in the process.

Doors will open at 7.30pm in the function hall and the first race will be at 8pm.

The club relies on the support of everyone involved in the club and without the volunteers who arrange these fundraisers and help the club tirelessly we would not be able to run such a successful club which is at the heart of the community. We hope to see lots of friends/families who are involved in the club from all ages and hopefully lots of people from the community will attend also to support the club and to have a good night.

The club would like to thank Tudor Davies for arranging the evening and the Athletic Club for hosting it.

Tickets are available from Tudor Davies (07919 591409) and it will be Free Entry on the night.

Running two senior teams does not come without its financial difficulties. The club has to raise funds of about £8000 each season to meet its running costs.

The ‘100 Club’ is one method of raising funds for the club and for as little as £1.10 per month you can take part in our monthly draw, with 50% paid out in prizes.

To join please complete this standing order form (100 Club) and either hand it to your bank or return it to any committee member. Payment can be made monthly, quarterly or annually whatever suits you best.

Wives, partners, relatives or friends are all welcome to join, so if you require additional standing order forms download them from our website.

We look forward to your support and good luck in the monthly draw.

Taunton 2016

Following the success of the recent tour to Taunton we intend repeating the experience next July/August. In order to spread the cost of paying for the tour we intend running a savings club throughout the season. See Phil Sweet to reserve a space on the coach and for details of the various savings options.

Six-A-Side Success

The annual Pontyclun FC six-a-side tournament took place this weekend with 20 teams competing for the long standing prize. After a day of football in glorious weather we are delighted to announce Pontyclun FC’s A side as the winners of the 2015 tournament.

This is always a fun and enjoyable day for all involved and is greatly supported by clubs in the local area as well as officials who we couldn’t have done without. The club would like to thank all the clubs that took part and their supporters, the match officials on the day and the BBQ staff. Everyone at the club is greatly appreciative of all of your support as without this we would not be able to run this event year on year.

A special mention and well done to Tomos Tweedy who was voted Player of The Tournament by the match officials.

Last but not least a huge thank you to sponsors of the day CMS Teamwear. Any teams looking for any kit or equipment for the upcoming season then we highly recommend you get in touch with CMS.
